Between Planning, theory, and spatial justice

Ahmed Ades is a Ph.D. candidate in Urban Planning, Design, and Policy at the Department of Architecture and Urban Studies (DAStU), Politecnico di Milano. Born in Cairo, he holds a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Architecture and Urban Design from the German University in Cairo, as well as a Master’s degree in Urban Planning and Policy Design from Politecnico di Milano.

He has gained experience in architecture and urban design across the Middle East, Spain, Italy, and Germany, working in various offices on projects spanning architecture, urban planning, and public space design. Alongside his professional practice, he has also been involved in teaching, further enriching his interdisciplinary approach to urban studies.

His doctoral research explores the intersection of urban planning, governance, and policy, examining how governance structures shape spatial justice and local decision-making processes.

Beyond academia, Ades is passionate about urban planning, history, and philosophy. He is now part of the editorial team of Urbinary.
