Decoding space, crossing boundaries and envisioning urban futures

Alessandro Maisano is grown up between Milan and Zurich, he is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning at the Politecnico di Milano. He has always been interested in urban dynamics and the ways in which different subfields of urban planning interact within space. His current interests include environmental issues, housing, transportation, and urban design, and he is also developing a strong passion for planning theory and planning education.
In addition to his coursework, he has had the opportunity to contribute to two distinct research projects. On one hand, he assisted in the development of Cernusco sul Naviglio’s new urban plan, with a specific focus on the city’s historic center. On the other hand, he is conducting his thesis as part of a broader research project on the logistics sector and its impact on land consumption. This research, carried out within LabPPTE, aims to quantify the land consumption directly caused by logistics, analyze its spatial and temporal characteristics and its effects on settlements and the environment, and propose policies to mitigate its negative externalities.
