Investigating socioeconomic inequalities of the Africa’s new urban product in the multiplicity of transnational urbanism
Yioryos Chatziefthymiou is a PhD Candidate and a teaching assistant at the Politecnico di Milano, DAStU. Born and raised in Greece, he holds two integrated Masters, one in Urban Planning and Regional Development (Thesis: Ratios and Proportions in Music and Space), and the other in Architecture (Thesis: Multiplicity in Space: Towards non-planning processes after Deleuze), both from University of Thessaly and a MBA in Competitive Strategies of States and Regions (Thesis: European Cohesion Policies: Unequal Development and Integration), from University of Athens.
His interests revolve around issues of urban planning, human geography and rethinking socio-economic inequalities. His doctoral research focuses on new cities from scratch in the African continent and on the exploration of socio-economic inequalities that are reinforced through their new productive model and the strategic planning of cities. Participation in international competitions and the constant search for new ways and methods of acquiring knowledge have substantially contributed to the need to highlight multi-spectral fields in my career so far.
