Tracking the invisible power of platforms in urban and rural life

Luoyu Jin is an urban planner student currently pursuing a double degree in Urban Planning and Policy Design at Politecnico di Milano, and Architecture at Zhejiang University. Her work navigates the shifting dynamics of power, governance, and visibility in platform-mediated public spaces.

Her research focuses on how digital platforms reshape rural life—through aesthetics, algorithms, and access—and how they silently reorganize spatial justice, housing, and the right to the city. She is particularly interested in socio-spatial impacts of platformization in both Chinese and European contexts.

Luoyu has collaborated on transnational research exploring urban morphology, and housing precarity. As a team member of the URBINARY Podcast, she contributes to content ideation, interviewing, and audio storytelling, translating urban theories into accessible narratives.

Her interests lie at the intersection of digital governance and critical urban theory. She believes in storytelling as a tool of spatial resistance—and rarely works without her little bear nearby.
